Peer Health Educator and Leadership Program, Level 2
After completing their first year, PHEs begin a year-long training around social and emotional health issues including: active listening, conflict resolution, gangs, depression, suicide, drugs and alcohol, sexual decision making, sexual identity, rape and sexual assault, and counseling skills. Upon completion, they create workshops for other teens that discuss these issues in a way that is meaningful to them. PHEs also provide peer counseling for RHI participants.
• Group: Tuesdays, Thursdays, 5:30 - 7:30pm • Workshops: Fridays, 6:30pm.
Family Institutes of Bold Hope (FI)
FI is a multifamily group counseling program. One cycle runs for eight session, held for 1.5 hours. The purpose is for children and parents to gain power in communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Children participating in FI often have noticeable progress in getting along with peers and siblings, self-awareness, and teamwork. In addition, parents have mentioned the relief of meeting with other families with similar wishes for their children. FI compliments the support children receive at school and home. FI is unique and effective because participants shape it! Families meet with FI facilitators to identify goals, share about strengths and challenges, and set benchmarks for progress. Each FI cycle is specifically tailored to meet the needs of participants - not a "one size fits all" approach.
• Group times vary throughout the year.
