Today and Tomorrow, We Need Your Help

Dear Friends-

Yesterday and last night as the snow and high winds moved in to Red Hook, thousands of residents were still without heat, electricity, and in some cases, running water. One “warming center” was open until midnight, but residents experienced a long, cold night with temperatures below freezing.

Today, our request is brief and simple, we need volunteers. Many of you have offered to come help this weekend, and we will eagerly put you to work. If you are available today or tomorrow, to bear the cold and deliver warm lunches and dinner to home-bound residents, we would greatly appreciate it.

Please send us an email to volunteers@rhicenter.org to let us know what time you are able to volunteer. We’ll let you know when we have enough support so we don’t bring in more people than we have assignments for. Please come to the Red Hook Initiative, 767 Hicks Street in Red Hook, corner of West 9th, anytime from 10am – 6:30pm today or tomorrow.

For those of you wondering about volunteer opportunities this weekend, or for large groups, we’ll respond on Friday, or watch our website for updates.

Once again, we want to say thank you for the incredible response we are receiving during this crisis.
